    Help with '86 250r rearend!!!

    Bought it like two years ago, redid the bearings and forks, motor was fit.
    I bought a lonestar +4 axle and the anti-fade lock nut, installed it and it was fine! last week i bought new pads for it and Bam! the caliper didn't want to go all the way back down because the brake pad is off just under 1/8 of an inch??? it was hitting the disc. ???
    could it be that the rear end i have is off an 85 causing the wrong fit and if so whats the difference of the 85 and 86 rear end??? or am i just missing a part that's causing this caos?

    did you back off the e-brake? 85 and 86 calipers are the same ,,,

    I have it blocked off and pushed the pistons in so i could clear it, still nothing. the old pads were worn out but one side was more worn than the other.
    On the caliper the two bolts that go through the plate that is held by the swingarm... do those move in and out of the caliper???

    The calipers are the same between the two years the difference is the bracket that the caliper bolts too. 85 has a threaded stud sticking out the side of the swingarm where the brake stay arm attaches and the bracket that the caliper mount bolts to is just a small round plate. On the 86 it has just a small pin with a collar that has 2 flat sides where the oblong brake stay plate rides on. Both of those are to allow the caliper to stay in proper position when adjusting the carrier to tighten the chain. The carriers are different sizes from 85 to 86 the 85 having a smaller diameter than the 86 and the 85 has spanner style adjusting cogs and the 86 has the 3 or 4 notches for a screwdriver.

    What kind of pads did you get? I purchased a set of ebc heavy duty pads and they didnt fit for $#!t. I had a dp rotor on there also and it was so tight you couldnt even push it around had to switch back to a stock rotor and it was still a tight fit but operable.

    Yes the caliper needs to slide back and forth on those two pins. That allows the caliper to center itself on the disc otherwise only the piston side would wear out.
    Take it all apart and get those pins clean and sliding well.

    Yeah, I went to bobs picked one up still didn't fit..... the brake pads that were on that one were still alright so i tried that with my original caliper and it slipped on with a tight fit. so the pads i ordered from motosport were too thick.

    Then again you just answered my question! Those to pins that slip into the bracket that goes through the axle, those are supposed to move to center itself! that means the one closer to the peg is seized how do you get that out??? i already let it sit in wd-40 and tryed heating it up to expand it and nothing. I looked on the parts fiche and it does show it out of the caliper. have you guys had this problem??

    Yeah it is pretty comon for them to seize if they dont get lubricated well. The best way to do it is put it in a vice and give it a little bit of heat and try to wiggle it back and forth slowly. Eventually it should come loose. Then you need to make sure its very clean and lubricate it with SIL_GLYDE.
