    Rear Brakes

    Can someone tell me how hard its gonna be to install new shoes on the rear of my 85 big red es. any tips will sure help me thx. ahead of time

    Remove the right wheel.
    Remove the right hub.
    Loosen both brake cables.
    Remove the brake drum.
    Remove and replace the brake shoes.
    Clean the inside of the brake drum.
    Scuff the inside of the brake drum where the shoes contact with about a 220 grit sandpaper.
    Clean the brake drum again.
    Reassemble in reverse order

    Referance the factory manaul. It takes about 30 minutes assuming you have no problems getting things to come apart.

    Oh ya, for sure. Just search for ATC 250ES brake shoes. Readily available

    Not sure if you've ever done it.. i'm guessing no sense you're asking the question lol.. but a tip for that break drum if it is the same as mine was.. use Heat and a lot of it if it's stuck. I heated mine up and was hitting it with a before it broke loose. Those things tend to get stuck and corroded.

    ordered new rear and front shoes on e-bay this morning.will start on the grunt work when it warms up abit . sprayed pb blaster on lug bolts, they looked pretty rough and rusted. i bought a soda blaster and that should help with the clean up. thx guys for helping me out........
