I was given a complete 88 trx clutch basket clutch plates clutch center and pressure plate. Are there any issues with putting in a 85r. I no most parts are the same just making sure.
Thanks Jim

no, as long as its 85-88 pressure plate. Alot of times, they got changed to 89 pressure plate, rod and lifter. You can't use a 89 pressure plate on 85-88 rod, ball bearing(s) and lifter. post a pic of the pressure plate, its easy to tell if its a 89 plate, if so, you need the 89 lifter, bearing and washer. The 85/86 rod is the same as 89, 87 and 88 rods are different as the clutch lifters were. The clutch lifter got 3 versions 85/86, 87/88 and 89, all will interchange as long as complete. The pressure plate has 2 version, 85-88 can use a 85-88 lifter, however 89 plate needs 89 lifter.

In the center the 88 pp has a lip the 89 has a flat washer I guess that's why the rod is different

actually the 85/86 and 89 rod is the same, the lifter hat, (ball 85/86) bearing, washer(89) and pressure plate are different.
