*New Pics * Brought my new toy ( 87 250SX ) home in the back of my wife's midsize suv

So it's been 3 years since I have owned a 3 wheeler. I have wanted to get one since the snow started to fly. I was set on getting a 350X, but then a really nice 87 250SX shows up about 2hrs from me. After really thinking about what I needed in an ATC, the SX was perfect . Plus it was much easier to convince the wife when I told her it has reverse and a trailer hitch ( thanks BKM )

I checked the specs online and measured my wife's suv. I said heck, i can fit it in here if I lower the handlebars and worst case let the air out of the front tire. When I showed up to look at the machine the seller looked bummed. He said where is your truck? Right here..lol..it will fit in here.
After deciding to pull the trigger and buy it, we did a few quick measurements and realized we had a slight height issue. He says you are going to have to come back with a truck. No way I said to myself. I can get it to fit.....so a few turns with a phillips and a socket, Viola, it fit!



After cleaning her for the first time tonight. So far the seller was very honest with his description of the SX before I drove to get it. I think it was a fair price for both of us

All 3 of my three wheelers were brought home in the back of my trailblazer! (not at the same time lol) It takes a little manuvering but it definatley can be done as you now know aswell as anyone. I'm not sure if you have a truck or not but the sad part for me was that I do own a truck, but my 200x and my KLT were both about 2.5 hour drives one way and I wanted to save on gas...

..as cheap as it sounds I do own a pickup, but it gets around 10 mpg. the suv is around 22mpg. I figured I could save around $50 in fuel alone, and the look on the sellers face....priceless

I paid $950 for it, kinda pricey for the bargains some of you guys get, but this is New England. It's rider quality that has been well taken care of and original except for the tires. No touch up , no stripped bolts anywhere, so i was satisfied. I have put about 5 hours on it since I brought it home saturday.

On the contrary, $950 is an exceptional deal, even in my area..it's a bloody 87!!

I got mine for $800, but then the seller didn't know his own machine..he thought it was an 85.

Admittedly, the SX is not as nice as yours and missing a few parts like tank, fenders, rear tires. I had to pull the forks, too and the SX sacked the Civic out pretty good.









But the 70 slips right in.

On the saving fuel line, I plan to use my corolla + snowmobile trailer to hull upto 3 machines if I can ever find good deals in my area lol. I'll still have the inside car space too for the box of old parts .

Nice find on the 87, I would say any year SX in the shape that it appears in the photo would go for ~$1200-1500 in my area, never seen an 87 for sale, so no clue if people would up the price for the year or not.

There are fewer and fewer nice SX showing up..and of those the 87 is one in a hundred.

I haven't been able to locate the manufacturers numbers for this model and year, but I'm betting it's lower than many people realize. Using the published 250ES numbers you could perhaps project the presumed number of 1987 250SX

Yeah great deal on a nice 87 SX in New England!! Looks damn clean, but I agree we need pictures of it whole and out of the SUV.

So great job Whyzee, and love and care for that SX. My Polaris ScramblerP3 came from CT, and was a similar situation of the guy not knowing what he got, and I got a very clean Scrambler P3 for $700
