Usually happens when a machine sits a long time with the petcock open and all the fuel in the tank flows into the float bowl and evaporates leaving the carb full of gum..

Remove the carb, unscrew the cap on the top so you can access the slide throttle, then spray carb cleaner inside. Let it sit a while, then gently warm the outside of the carb with a torch until the body starts to heat a bit..

    Then pull!!

    Should come out

Should the carb cleaner just seep out? I tried heating it and it still wouldnt budge. I think it sat 10yrs or so.

Yes a certain amount of cleaner will run right thru, don't be light on it..

You may have repeat this..if the torch is hot enough to shock the carb body it's better. The carb body and slide will expand at different rates. You want this to break the bond between them..

Keep at it, you'll get it..

Patience and just the right amount of force..I got my 200m carb free doing this. It had been sitting 19 years!

Try soaking it in automatic transmission fluid if the other didnt work.

Honestly, if this is for your YT 175, I'd replace it/upgrade it. A cheap upgrade would be a blaster or banshee carb. YT175 is a 24mm, banshee is a 26mm, and the blaster is a 28mm carb. All would be decent replacements/ upgrades.

Jetting will need to be changed of course.

I've had a couple stick. In both cases, the slide wasn't the problem - the needle was gummed up in the needle jet.

Same solution though - take off the bowl, clean a bunch, remove jets, then soak needle/seat with carb cleaner.

    It was a pain.

As far as cheap man ebay is not looking that way. What would the upgrade do performance wise for me?

yea take the cable off the thumb throttle, then remove the whole assembly from the bike. as mentioned, soak it in something over night. shoudl free up by mornign usually. I usually use a can of chemdip i get from the auto store. $12-$16 for a 1gallon can and it alsts me years! after several hours of soaking then wash with hot soapy water and it looks new for sure!
