200x top piston ring won't fit

Putting new rings on my 200x piston its .50 oversized. they are shindy rings, .50 oversized, when i bought them on ebay, it said they were for 200e and 200m. the oil rings and the second ring fit fine, but the top ring will not go in the groove it is too fat. i did my research on the 200x parts diagram, and thought they were all the same. am i wrong?

What brand of piston do you have? Honda oversize or aftermarket? A lot of the aftermarket pistons out there require you to use their rings also.

The shining ring should be the top ring; Look for markings also that are on the top of the ring indicating UP.

Make sure you stagger all those rings and don't overlap the oil retaining ring either.

Here are the markings that were stamped into the top of my cylinder: "0.50MM" "4156P2" and long the top rim there is a "H32A2" if someone out there know's what this means that would be awesome. im guessing its aftermarket because i have a set of standard 200x rings and they wont fit either. If anyone can help idetify my piston i would greatly appreciate it!

I agree with blue27, sounds like a Wiseco number. You should be using Wiseco rings for a Wiseco piston. Shindy rings are more than likely patterned after OEM rings.

Personally, I won't mix pistons and rings, If I have an oem piston, it gets OEM rings, Same for Wiseco, etc. Just because a ring fits a piston doesn't mean it's the proper ring for that piston.

Where did you get the piston?

Got a pic of the piston?

I realize the rings don't fit the piston, and this isn't about piston/ring to cylinder fit (yet) but how about we go back to step 1?

Was the cylinder bored to the piston? Meaning did the shop that bored your cylinder have the piston in their hands so they could match the bore diameter to the piston size?

Your ring end gap should also be checked before you install the rings on the piston to make sure they meet the piston/ring manufacturers specs.

If you're going to do this let's try to get it right the first time.

I'm not sure about the history of this trike, i bought it for 300 bucks, it ran great, no smoking, but had a bad cam chain slap. after i got into it, i found it needed a lot more, so i'm redoing the top end. I'm assuming that at some point a previous owner had the cyldiner machined, and had a .50 wiseco piston installed. I was just assuming it was an OEM piston. Now i have learned otherwise thanks to you guys! Lots of assuming going on here.
