    bracket

It's a fender support bracket. If you have Maier fenders, you may not have one. I don't have one on my 85 but have it for my 86.

    It's not a critical part.

My 85 has Maier Rear Fenders. And I do not have the brace unless its between the seat and fender or something. I won't be getting one.

    Thanks Guys!

When you buy MAIER fenders they give you 2 rt angle brackets to use because they don't have anything molded in the plastic like OEM does. It requires that you drill 2 holes in your new fender and then have to look at a machine screw head all the time.

My 85 ATC250R Maier fender is strong without it.

My 87 ATC250SX with the mudflaps flops down from the weight - especially once mud gets on there - and it could benefit by using the support. I still don't want to drill any holes though.
