Did my first ('85 200X) last summer. Just take your time, label and sandwich bag everything. You'll be fine.

digital camera everything is what helps me.

I remember there is one way they like to sit to come apart.
as in - one side or the other belongs up.
and some sort of 'jig' that supposedly makes things easier.

Get a WELL LIT/CLEAN workbench and the manual nearby; And a pad of paper for notes. Let the oil out completely.

Be aware of any LH threaded nuts or bolts. Cut a cardboard template of the cases (rough) and put all the bolts and brackets/straps for cables in their respective hole.

EVERY case or cover I have split have a couple of raised area to use a small and a brass punch or plastic . If they do not budge, you missed a bolt.

Take all your screwdriver for pry bars far far away during you splitting process. Tap, tap and tap.

Keep the transmission together with nylon straps; beware of thrust washers and their locations. Make certain any improvements for the 83/84/ and 85 200X internal kicker mechanism are upgraded.

People who take stuff apart and toss it into a 5 gallon bucket or a box; Those people are NOT mechanics.

I just bought one last summer. Split the cases on a US90 in a jiffy. Next will be a couple of 200X cases. If you are going to be doing a lot of engine tear downs, I highly recommend this tool.
