    Options for shorter swinger-'86 250r

Hey all, I have an '86 250r that currently has a +6" extended swing arm. I honestly hate the whole "squashed bug" look the trike has & want something closer to the +2" size.
Would it be easier to find someone that is willing to swap swingers or should I just hack it to the size I want?
If I do swap, do I need to make sure I swap the linkage for the shock too?
    Thanks

Your linkage should be fine unless it has been altered. If the swinger you are running now is extended after where your linkage hooks up, everything should still be fine. I have a stock length swinger that I would trade. I have a +9 and think its a little too much for some of the hills I will be climbing and wanted around a +5 or 6.

Could you measure your stock swing arm from the pivot bolt to the center of the carrier for me please? I just want to make sure I'm telling you right when I say its a +6". I really think my linkage has been altered one way or another but don't have a stocker to compare it to

your linkage looks 100% stock from the pics. your swingarm is just long...normaly when extended very long you need to have different dog bone links to correct the bike geometery. Honestly id buy a stock on on ebay or off a member here ride it 1st, see if you like it, if you do have a +2 made or have somone stretch a factory one. you can sell you +6 on ebay and make money and get a factory one.

It sure would. I tried to view this thread, and a few others, from a few different hotels' business center computers, while I was on the road earlier this week, and the "Net Nanny" software, they had installed on them, wouldn't let me view them because of the slang term, "swinger."
