Picked this up very early this morning; it's not perfect but it is a nice survivor. I haven't seen one of these since the mid-80s. This one is not all beat up...and it runs great. It was about 5 degrees this morning, and when I got to the guy's house it started on the first pull (the machine was dead cold). I got a good deal on it, and I'm very happy with the purchase.
Although I didn't own one BITD, 2 of my friends bought one each new in 1983. They beat the crap out of them, and the machines never quit. I occasionally would trade my motorcycle for one of their 3 wheelers and ride it. Sometimes I rode on the back. Brings back some good memories.
It runs really strong, has brand new tires on the back, plastics are all good, and it's very tight. Grab-bar is beat up, but that's ok. Here's some pics:
