    Ebay Scam Valves?

    Hey,

Well I am in the process or restoring my ATC 200 engine, but have ran into a few hitches lately....and that is acquiring the proper OEM valves.

A while ago, I had ordered a intake valve off eBay. It was described as a OEM, new valve.. Although when I received it, it looks to be some junk chinese one or some other off brand, not OEM. This is it: http://donutnode.net/content/images/other/ebay1.png

A couple weeks later, I decided to try my luck on eBay and order another one, hoping this time that I would get an actual OEM intake valve. http://www.ebay.com/itm/360561394514...84.m1439.l2649 And this is what I recieved: http://donutnode.net/content/images/other/ebay2.png

Looks nothing like an OEM valve to me.......looks like worse Chinese junk. That looks far different, than the pictured valves on eBay: http://i.ebayimg.com/t/NOS-HONDA-XR2...r0!~~60_57.JPG

Here is also a picture of the three valves I have now: http://donutnode.net/content/images/other/valves.png

So my question is, are the first two intake valves I received non-OEM ones? Is it true that OEM intake valves all have a letter or number on top of them and if so, what letter/number?

    Thanks in advance,
    Nate

    Hello

The valves you recieved are not oem even if they came in the oem looking package shown in photo. Yes all oem valves have a letter on the head that I remember. I was the parts mgr at Norm Reeves on 1976 saw hundreds of oem valves.

Do you have a photo of the package it came in?

Was it an oem looking package?

I wouldn't run those. Look how rough the metal is on the back side, not honda's style.

I'll see if I can find some, someone here should have them also.

    Hello

Are you saying you bought the valve for $24.95 from the link below? You can call your credit card company and try to reverse charges if you paid for it this way but I think if you paid thru pay pal they won’t reverse it. It’s a nice little ebay trick I ran into before. If you did not use your card you will never ever get your money back, sorry.

I looked some more at the valves, the shindy’s are definitely japanese so they are ok and look good in photo’s. The vesrah’s are sold by a us based company owned by a Japanese guy, they make good brake pads. The valves I have seen look bad. The box they come in says Japanese “quality” no where on the box or on their site do they specifically say they are made in japan. If they were made in japan it should be proudly plastered all over their box and site don’t ya think. Maybe they are but I see no proof, very strange.

Claim to be nos, call ask if there is any letter on head and what it is. If there is any letter it is nos. phone 780-963-2999
29.00 +7.00 ship they have other valves

I have run the shindy valves before and have no complaints.

I would open a case against that seller and get your money back.

Darn! Yeah, I paid through PayPal on the PayPal smart connect credit card.

I think I will attempt to contact the seller and ask for a full refund. If he does not want to refund me, then I will see if PayPal will give me a refund.

Hopefully I can........this is the second valve that I have been scammed out of! No more ordering Valves from eBay for me. I think I will get them from RockyMountainATVmc, as I've had good luck with them before.

    Hello

Like I mentioned if the ad you showed is the EXACT auction you won then you got the old bait and switch act. Show the ORIGINAL OEM package getting buyer to believe he will be receiving an OEM valve or whatever else they are selling then either say somewhere in the ad that it either is an OEM replacement or simply lie and claim the valve you receive will in fact be an OEM.

Was my and m pargiello's info any help?

Are you really willing to pay $45 each for OEM valves?

    Hello

Sorry I was typing while you were posting and didn't see your post until the screen refreshed. Try the place I mentioned with the phone number too. Is there a reason you don't want to run the Shindy's.

I already have a OEM exhaust valve and would like to continue with OEM intake too.

Yeah, thanks for your help guys. I would of been stuck with them, if I didn't receive your help (wasn't sure if OEM or not)!

$41.7 with shipping, from RockyMountain. You think that is worth it or is it cheaper elsewhere?

Just don't want to get scammed again.

Ask the guy nicely for a full refund including shipping the cost to and from diplomatically clearly explaining why you want one. Never yell or threaten [hard to do I know]. If he refuses then peacefully tell the guy you will give him a negative feedback and will clearly state that he intentionally lied about the valve and you will list your ebay refund claim number with your feedback post and the link to his ad, photos of the valves that you have showing the oem and the copies. Sadly this is the most likely way I have found to "motivating a crooked seller into doing the right thing. This way he can simply go on to rip someone else off.

What ad did you buy the second valve from, can you post it?

    Hope this info helps.
