If you stall with the new 450 when accelerating hard, then the hot start works. When the engine shuts off quickly and the cylinder is full of Un-burned gas the hot start is like the opposite of a choke. It opens up a air bypass that is like holding the throttle open a little bit to make starting easier. I have stalled my 450 under HARD acceleration, and have had to hold the throttle and hot start open to make it start.
