2 stroke temp gauge??

just wondering how many guys are useing inline temp gauges on their 2 strokes? I plan on doing trail riding with my tri z and some of are trails are slower trails and i dont want to cook her. If i do put in an esr temp gauge what would be a safe temp? thanks for looking eric

nothing wrong with them. I put mine on my 250r inside the radiator shrouds where the line from left to radiator is.

My buddy bought a KX500 themostat for his girls 350 polaris. It sure helps regulate the temps. I Know his 700 raptor idles around 206 degrees. I'd imagine the 2 strokes should be about the same under load. All the same physics for temps.

Run a trail tech digital one on my z, works great when you remember too look... should be rigjt around 195-210 run mine up to 235 with rads pluged with mud, 50/50 antifreez at 15lbs will boil over at 250f,easy too see if you dont run a bottle, handy guage to have for sure.

I run the digital Trail Tech temp gauge on ALL my bikes. They have a tattle tail feature that displays the highest temp reached, each time you ride. I like to let them warm up to at least 100deg before I START putting around my yard...and no beating on it till around 150deg, and I NEVER run them hotter than 190-200deg TOPS! If you are over 200deg with any 2 stroke, and you continue riding, you are asking for trouble! All my Z's, even the big bore, will maintain around the 170-180 mark under racing conditions in summer. Trish will reach the 190-200 mark, after 6 laps, WFO, around Pine lake, but that's with a 1/2-1/2mix of distilled water, and engine ice, wich SHOULDN'T be needed in a Z engine. Just my opinion based on experience.

I live by mine. I run between 150 and 200 depending on riding conditions and how i beat it. overall 230 is where I shut mine down for a cool off, but it does help me know if I am running to lean on my overall jetting by if the bike just keeps running too hot. just good insurance is all. anyways, out in the Dunes in California during the Invasion I kept getting hot and it would run at 200 when warm and shoot to 230+ quick if I beat on it too hard mid day when it was warmest.

I have a cheapo guage too, not the ESR or the digital guage. Its one from ebay for like 35$ shipped and I stuck it out my rad shrouds so I can keep an eye on it

The thermostat doesn't open till 150* and would agree not to run over 200*...As far as Engine Ice goes it's a waterless formulation...not to be mixed with anything but itself. It runs at a more constant temp...and sustains it's effectiveness over water, 50/50, straight anti freeze. I use it and it works pretty good IMO in modern 4strokes that tend to run hot.

the ESR's are great, they are angled a little bit at like 45 degrees and my ebay one is angled at 90 degrees. as far as I know they function identically, but cost like 90$ each as opposed to my ebay ones. I actually installed an ESR one on Gus's bike when we were at the Imperial Invasion after he installed a new 250r motor, i dont think his stocker got over 150 degrees out there lol

I run the trail tech gauge on my banshee. Usually stays around 175 with LP liquid performance coolant.

Yes you did manage to get it on there "and perfect" after drinking a few cool ones and laughing our arss's off rolling in the sand!!! Lol GOOD TIMES buddy!!!
