    250sx almost done

All parts i ordered for my 86 250sx are here. Only thing that isnt is the clymer manual... was wondering where the drain plug, and oil filter cover are. Drain and fill plug on the diff, how to replace fork boots, and torque specs for all this. Dumb questions, but ive lost money before by not doing things right the first time so i like to make sure. Should have it finished tomorrow or sunday. Thanks in advance

Oil drain plug on the bottom of the machine, accessible thru one of the small holes in the engine guard..17mm socket to remove.

Filter cover on the left side of the motor with a black plastic cap on, 3 - 8mm bolts to remove. Be extra sure when you put the filter on to install it with the rubber grommet pointed away from the motor.

Diff drain on the left lower edge of the differential, 10mm bolt.

Fill plug is easy to spot of course..17mm socket to remove.

Oil after drain approx. 2.1L, differential fluid approx. 3.3oz..

Well i got one boot done, and it was extremely difficult. Had to have an assistant pull on the piston and bend it a little, with the piston down on the ground. I had to jump up and down on the front end and eventually it went back in. Is there supposed to be a way to re install them by yourself? At this point i expect it to be done next weekend, because im assuming i need an assistant for the other side.. which i rarely have

Well my trike was maybe 5 minutes from being finished and i snapped one of the 10mm studs off the right fork. I vice gripped it out. All the parts sites ive been on dont even list the studs as an individual part. Anyone know the parts number or anywhere to get it besides a parts bike?

I would say take the stud to a hardware store and match up the threads and size and length. I don't recall them having anything special about them, just basically a threaded rod. Probably would be a good idea to put some loctite on the side of the stud that will go back in the shock to keep it from wanting to spin out later on.

I ground the head off a crankcase screw from my 110 parts bike. Same pitch and length, it worked perfectly. Rode my trike for about an hour today. I still need to change fluids, and mess with the throttle cable. It revs slightly when turning. But its done and runs great.Click image for larger version.

ID:	167463 i routed all breather and vent lines to behind the headlight, and am currently running the intake with an open pipe. I plan to snorkel the intake, put my hitch on it, get a set of clean rear fenders, racks, and a manual winch on the front.
