    200X Questions

Well I am a new member to this site and I have been doing some reading and noticed that alot of people on here know there stuff. I am looking into buying some cheap trikes to fix up and take to the Dunes and Desert every once in awhile. I have been looking in the local newspaper and cycle trader and noticed alot of 1983-1985 Honda 200X's for sell. My question on these bikes are:
    1. Are they fast?
    2. Are Aftermarket/Performance parts easily available (EX: Extended Swing Arms)?
    3. Are the pretty reliable if well taken care of?

Thanks for any information and help...!

They are decently fast, (more of a woods bike) they are cery reliable if taken care of, but it might be hard to find an extended swingarm. If you want a dunes trike look into an atc250r, or a tecate 3, or tri-z, or a atc 350x. The 86/87 200x's are a lot sportier than the 83-85's, plus they are 6 speeds
    Current Rides-Soon to be 85 350X, 84 200X

Well I went and looked at a couple Trikes the other night that this one guy had. 1. 83' 200X, 2. 82' 250R, and 3. 83' 185S, They were all fairly cheap and only needed minor work. I really want a 250R and think I might keep searching for one that I really like. Thanks for the help!...

    200x

    A 200x is a great fun trike.
For all around trail riding and fun nothing can touch it.
If you want something bigger and faster get a 250R or 350X instead of modding the 200x.
Enjoy the 200x for what it is.

yeah if you want a duner you are going to want to get a liquid cooler 2 stroke such as 85 and up 250R, T3, tri z,
200Xs are pretty desent bikes but like said before they make good trail bikes not a wide open duner ounce you get them in the open they seem slow. if you want something you can realy scream on try to get your hands on a liquid 2 stroke trike or at least a 350x a 200X is more of an entry leval trike nuthing thats really going to kick ass in the dunes.
looking for a TRI-Z 250 to restore at the moment

LONG LIVE THE 2 STROKES !!!

    2. For the 83-85; yes
    3. Honda Reliability. You know it.

Thanks for all of your help! I think I want a 4 Stroke because they tend to be more reliable,...I am looking at maybe a 350X...How would it compare to a 250R?...I think if I come across a good deal on a 200X I will buy it, fix it up, give it to the wife and get me a Trike I really want...Thanks again for the help!...

It's not as fast as a 250R, but still a good choice, these things are torque monsters, you can lug these things a gear high, and mash the throttle and it will stand straight up, plus they are 6 speed.
