Well after 4 years of good solid abuse I thought the odds of it surviving another were against me and so this weekend my black and blue R made it's trip to the workshop for a well deserved rebuild. I had a few telltale signs that it wasn't happy, a super jumpy clutch was at the top of the list followed by that growing sound of a piston wanting to escape. I picked up a few items this winter as you can see but there a still a few needed. As I suspected the basket had some serious grooving happening so I picked up a Barnett basket with the stainless fingers, full OEM fibers and plates and 89 upgrade kit. The 20 over Wiseco looked good but the lower ring was stuck in the ring land, still have too size the bore but I suspect I'll be going up 1 size. Forks were weeping so It's new OEM seals and wipers as well as putting fork boots back on. These seals only lasted 4 years without boots. Original Crank felt good but I thought if I'm going this far lets start with a new Hot Rods crank. Rear shock will be getting a rebuild as well. As usual all hardware will get re-plated, My plater also started anodizing as well, might try something a bit different with that, we'll see. Here is how it sits tonight, puts a little cramp in the early season of riding but I'm pretty confident it wouldn't have lasted the whole year as it was.
