    removing the back drum brake

    ok let me say this before anything else i work on my wheelers outside so no artifical lighting anymore, anyways ran out of light and the whole thing was caked with dirt, brake dust etc and id like to take the drum out so i can clean behind it does it just slide off with some encouragement or does it have a little ring that holds it on the axel? like i said its a mess and ran out of light so i couldn't tell :/

    I know when I took my rusted on drum off my 83 110 I had ro just tap tap tap until it came loose. I also used a rubber mallet.

    1984 Honda 200es and my gosh there has been alot of problems with them on this site this year looks to be the year of carnage for the old girls...

    On my sx i had to remove the axle and press the drum off, and that was a struggle.
    86 tri z - might be nearly done throwing money at it! (good thing, the hondas are getting jealous!)
    86 250sx - old reliable
    83 atc 70-new project for me and the boy
    another 82 110
    a bunch of golf carts for the wife and kids
    -gone but not forgotten-
    82? 110 - why did i sell it??
    84 225dx - meh, it was a pile

    On most Honda's:
    Remove the nuts that hold the drum. Then remove the 0-ring that keeps the dirt out of the splines on the axle. Most of the time it's inside the lip of the drum on the axle. That o-ring will cause the brake drum to be a P.I.T.A. to remove.
    Once the o-ring is removed spray the axle / brake drum splines with WD-40 or such if the drum don't just slide off.
