As Promised...The RT250R Build Thread! Reverse Trike 250R THREETRAX

As I stated in 2011 it would be one of my goals or mission to try to c if I can put a missle kit single tire rear end in a TRX250R. I have really wanted to do this and just make something different and cool. Not sure how the handling will be or traction or anything at all but I'm willing to try it and find out.

I now have all the components. A brand new missle kit swingarm rear end, a 1989 TRX250R, a durablue front sway bar, and will! And where there's a will...

So I haven't started holding things up in place yet but I'll be going over it all soon to c what's going to need to be done. This may be a slow thread for a bit cuz I have a couple other builds in progress as well but I'll try to chip away at it when I can.

Haters need not post. This is not a thread for arguments and off tangent things. This is for fun and for experimentation and because I love doing this stuff. Building creating, trying, and maybe making something no one has done. It's that simple.

great project cant wait to see you pull it off. i bet it will be awesome to ride over rougher ground without having a fixed rear axle

So is it the same concept as a Can-Am Spyder then? Could be pretty cool!

This is gonna be sweet... Three wheels are always better than four, even if its backwards... LOL!!!

Will be like a Spyder then, it will have the nice handling in the turns and yet the power of a bike. I have ridden one that a friend owns, they ride so nice. Should be cool in an offroad config like this. Will be watching the build!

    Tagged!

Because when you do something like this and someone asks you "Why?" The one and only answer is "Because"

There is a saying that us Harley guys have been using since forever, but it works for anytime someone wants to question something you're doing:

"If I have to explain it, you wouldn't understand" This build fits that saying perfectly.

I can't wait to see how it turns out!

Very neat idea Ryan. I will be staying tuned to this thread. I am really interested in your ride report and handling characteristics.

This is very cool Ryan. Calvin at Cammex kicked this idea around in 1985 but never went forward with the project because of (A) funding (B) AATVA rules violation and protest probability (C) what if any roll or lean that will happen while turning. Slow turns should be no problem. Powerslides through the turns may cause the front end to lean or compress the outer shock, thus causing the trike to lean to the high side. Tortion bars Might solve this problem. I am excited how this project turns out. Looks to me like you are doing it right though. Happy building......

Some people might say you're crazy or stupid but honestly I think trying things people haven't done before(or call stupid) is the best thing you can accomplish. I wonder how its going to perform in hillclimbs. Awesome build, keep the pics running!

    Yeah I'm excited.

Thanks for all the encouragement guys. I agree that it will be odd but I really think the front sway bar will help keep it planted. At least more then without it obviously but I also plan on getting extended a-arms to make it 50 inches wide in the front so that should also help stability.

So plus a-arms and shocks that I can adjust low speed compression on. That way I can crank the low speed compression and that will really help it to not pitch in a corner.
