Haha sorry it may be a dumb question but I've seen a lot of trashed motors but have never seen a rod bent like that. What actually caused it to bend like that?

I gotta say, I've never seen someone almost excited to keep rebuilding and messing up motors. Maybe it's time for a motor that lasts???

really HOT and a ABRUPT STOP! LOL hot rings sticking caused the wrist pin to rip out of the bottom of the piston ,, when I took the pipe of and looked up. I was looking at the wrist pin hole on the piston... thoe's that looked up it got a chuckel! I will hang it with my axle's and pistons.. heads ect.. LOL

HOT it was mid 90's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! guessing it was too hot for the air cooled.. the rings started to stick and it ripped the wrist pin out of the bottom of the piston,,, the rest was history as the piston turned and the crank proceeded to pound it through the head.. lol

Iv never seen one that thrashed before .I read in Dirtwheels years ago about a Banshee that was in a race and they blew one side and bent the rod.The team mechanics heated it straitghen it put new piston and rings in it and it held up for the race the next day.I had an aircooled 250r pull the wrist pin out of the bottom of the piston (wrist pin to short for piston) it happened at home while I was tuning it. Mine didnt hurt anything but the piston, wrist pin and wrist pin bearing.

I like how you attribute it to "3 days of dune thrashing" as if the rest of the planet isn't familiar with the history of the YZ490 engines.
