I bought a new '86 Tri-Z throttle cable a while ago. Now I'm adding a 38mm Keihin PJ carb. It looks like the stock cable is about 10mm short on stroke and won't directly attach to the Keihin. To save some money, I cut off part of the elbow just in front of the flange. What's left of the elbow drops right into the brass adjuster on top of the Keihin and gives me just enough free length to let the carb slide come home. I also screwed the inline cable adjuster all the way in. I guess you could get rid of the jam nut there for another couple mm's of free length. Someone else might want to confirm this for the forum, but it worked for me.
