    shocking question?

How tough is it to rebuild a shock? I think the aircooled shock is toast, I yanked the spring today and there is no resistance at all. I don't have a "GOOD" manual yet. and how much would it cost. also someone on the board was looking for a rear replacement spring. Dennis Kirk has one for a 83 R part number 58-1539 made by progressive.

    shocking

yeah, my clymer manual just tells you to take it to a dealer ,,, i wonder if a honda brand shop manual even says how to do it.
i looked up the shock info in my 350x manual and they go into detail about putting new oil in the shock and all but nothing about re-building the shock piston its self. gotta be the same technique for other honda shocks.

i haven't disassembled mine yet but gonna need to so i can shine up the innards on the 250r aircooled project.
maybe you'll get lucky BLAZERONE22 and find that some where in your shocks lifetime somebody just let the charge out of it along with the oil.
i wonder if my dive shop would recharge mine ( if needed ) with nitrox - lol !

I cannot find the reciept, from memory it was a couple of hundred bucks. The reason I had to get my shock redone was that someone had put the bottom back together backwards, so that the spring was pushing on the big washer and bending it. When I tried to fix it, something I did let out the oil. At that point, I just sent it in and had it refurbished.

I found Parkers card, but it is silver text on a black background, and I could not get it to scan.

I have seen a lot of his work over the years and it is good. He has good prices on stuff, and you know it will be right.

WOW! My shock is just really bouncy, so it should only need to be recharged right? Anyone know how much that would cost?

I had mine rebuilt for two reasons. The first is that for another shock that is in good condition you will pay over $100 (unless you cop a ebay deal, which you cannot depend on) and you still do not know how long it will last. the second is that I needed it right away, because I was going for a week in the sand.
