    2x 200x pick up, odd carb problems....

    So I picked up 2 200x 3 wheelers 2 days ago, 1 running, and the other nearly complete parts machine. Well the runner has fairly low compression and smokes quite badly. The parts engine feels much better for compression and the oil is new in it. Anyway long story short, I swapped parts from the running engine to get the parts machine fired up, including the carb. Had to adjust the idle screw out about 6 turns to even get it to start, and when it did, it just raced. O ring looks good, I see no cracks on the intake boot, the smoking machine has a small crack on the intake boot though. I poped on a carb from a 185 and it ran quite well, of course showed signs of running a bit lean, poping after a rev and such, but other than that it ran fine. I'm kind of confused how just swapping the carb from 1 engine to the other (both appear stock) would be such a huge difference.

    The good news is, the parts machine engine does not smoke at all, and no odd noises that I could hear. The smoking machine has a bit of a knock besides a timing chain tick, makes me think the rod is knocking. I can only hear it while under heavy load. Both machines are 1985s even though the parts machine has some 86 parts on it like the gas tank. The "left overs" I plan to sell in my webstore since it isn't cost effective to fix both up for resale.

    In the photos, the one taken all apart is the parts machine with the more solid engine.

    make sure you have the clip in that holds the needle down in the slide. I lost mine on my 200m and it did the same thing. I used a couple pieces of a bandaid box cut in a circle to hold the needle down. Haven't had a problem since.

    Adjusting the idle screw out 6 turns? That alone should tell you something is wrong with the carb. I would rebuild that carb and take some steel wool to the slide. The high revving could be a stuck slide or your cable needs to be adjusted or you have crap stuck in your float needle. Either way, clean the carb and rebuild if necessary.

    The funny thing is, if I swap the carb back to the other 200x, it runs just fine, swap it back, same issue. The 185s carb worked fine on it though... which just blows my mind wtf is going on lol.
