1985 250r headlight bezels prices are out of control!

I'm just going to say it. 1985 250r headlight bezel prices are out of control!!..... I bid $150 for "i must admit" a nice 1985 250r bezel. It went for $183. (As i'm sure some of you around here know.lol) I say as consumers of a product we ban together and not pay more than $125. All we need to do is make a numbered waiting list.......... I'm #1.....lol

Well you could compromise the model year and support those who support us (and SAVE).

Its supply and demand. Theres demand, theres no supply. I paid about $50 for a cracked complete assembly a year ago. I gutted it all sold the OEM shell bought a maier shell. Finding all the internals is not an easy job. They pop up every now and then cheaper when they are wasted.

Along with '86 headlights, rear fenders, front fenders, nice seats, oem wheels and tires, and anything else oem that is in good shape. You have a few choices though, forget about oem and buy what is available aftermarket, suck it up and pay the $$$, or get out now and pick up an atv that still has parts available and enjoy it.

Its not going to get any better as time goes on. It might stabilize one day, but the days of cheap plentiful parts are over.

I gave up and got maier for my back and front fenders. I lucked out and got a original MINT gas tank with petcock on e-bay for a great price. I'm sure the guy did not know what he had. Got the tank air scoops OEM as well, new for about 80 bucks. Still haven't found a headlight or wheelie bar yet either. I'll probably install an after market bar for now. The light, well I guess I'll have to bite the bullet eventually because they are only going up in price!

Were at a point that unless you will keep your present machine forever and have a ton of parts, that I see this dwindling down parts wise as the pricing increases. The demand is there but some supply is near extinct. Jeswhinehart, Jason hall amongst others have made some some excellent re pops. But fenders and some other items will be a ton of money to make.

In time many models will be gone and TPC as well as Tim's and Jason Halls work conversions will be the way to go.

The best part is that allot of whats left has been restored to like new or improved condition. And hoarders like me can last until it just hurts to much to ride........

I still have the original headlight shell off my 85 that I may sell soon, along with the tank. There is an 85 and 86 250r on Craigslist that are being parted out if you guys want me to get a price for some parts.

There is a NOS 250r rear fender on ebay right now with a $1,700 buy it now price! You know, I am more then happy to spend $1,300 less for a set of aftermarket ones. I just don't see why anyone would pay those prices. Especially when the darned trike only cost $1,800 or so brand new at the dealer.

Simply put, there are still a few people out there looking to do a 100% OEM true restore, right down to zinc plating hardware. And those are the people who are willing to pay the premium for the increasingly harder to find NOS OEM parts like that.

But I'm with you, I am totally OK with Maier OEM style new plastics. I try to make and keep my trikes nice, but they are riders in the end... I have alot of respect for those few true OEM restores out there, but they are just plain out of my price range.. Plus, I just can't resist slowly modding my machines either!
