I am wondering if this 350x head is fixable, and even worth fixing?
Hate to toss it as it has good journals and exhaust studs/threads. Looks like the seats can be recut, or used with oversized valves? Any idea what it may cost to have done?
Thanks!

I'm no help, but what happened? A valve dropped in the cylinder?

There is a guy that goes by storminnorman over at planetminis.com that could fix that for you, he's brought back heads form worse damage.

I second shortline
It's always worth fixing...especially since they don't make these parts anymore.
Send it my way. I'll guarantee it for another 20..Ok,not 20,but that is very fixable. It needs the seats recut like you said. Mickey could comment on oversize valves. I would assume that would eliminate ANY doubt. I have saved a lot of 250X's like that one. It takes a lot of tlc with a very steady hand. And the combustion chamber will never be pirty again. But ,the valves will seal fine. I tossed them away too many times!! And I had a customer BEG me to do a 250X 12 or so years ago. It still runs like new. And kicks like a muleHave done a few since. And for my doubters lol... I did them with a dremel and rough/finish lapping compound. I don't own a seat cutter. But you will want a seat cutter ,and you will never look back.

What shape are the guides in?If the engine smoked before they may have been the culprit. The 350x is known for worn guides.not a cheap fix if done in a shop.
It wasn't my engine, I got it awhile back in a parts lot, dropped a valve and piston took it.
I can press out the guides and maybe clean up some of the chamber, but I'm unable to do any of the seating.
we used to reweld aluminum (car) heads all the time.
Machine down to accept new seats and off they go.
I forget the cost.
I can't see to well so not real sure what it actually needs.
Hello
Can't see it well, just take it to shop and get estimate.
To do it properly you are looking at possibly
4 valves $80.00? for Shindy’s
2 seats minimum $25.00?
Likely 2 guides, probably 4. $40.00? for 4 min
Misc labor $100.00? min
Smooth head $25.00?
[this will lower compression slightly but not by much]
No guarantee on “good” or “rebuilt” heads on Ebay.
You might need to redo the top end [new bore, piston and rings]while you’re in there.
I was thinking his piston is probably still good?? lol.. It has 75 pock/breaks in it from 2 valve heads in it ! Yes,he will need a complete top end, bore. And probably a timing chain. Do it once do it right.

I would say try to fix it since, as you say, these parts are no longer made. If it were me, I'd do what I could to clean up the combustion chamber portion and leave the valve welding/grinding to a pro since I don't have the tools to rework the valves. It possible that the valve seat(s) could just be replaced.
If you decide to scrap it, PM me, get my address and send it to me. I'll see what I my machinist can do with it.

Easily fixable, I do headwork from mild to wild all week long. I've fixed heads worse than that one, could even restore it back to stock chamber volume or smaller for more compression, stock or oversize valves. Whatever you want.
