That is why I didn't even attempt to checm valve clearances until I was done checking EVERYTHING else. And I mean everything. I have spent hours and hours on this one trying to figure out the problem. Finally, the only thing that made a positive change was adjusting the exhaust valve. As a matter of fact, I rode it to work today. Top speed was 38mph on level ground. 41 down hill. This thing is so fast compared to my other 2 70s... Points were dead on so I didn't adjust anything. I was considering replacing points and condensor but I guess I don't need to!
