    scored a T3 !!!!!

just scored a t3 for 750 bucks !!! she runs good has some minor issues with it but nothing to major but has no title. i noticed that it has a bills pipe? i thought dg was the only make of pipes for the t3? shocks a little bit weak but i expected that (herd t3 have bad suspension.) its rigged with this on/off switch not to sure if thats the oem switch it doesn't have the on/off for the headlight either. this is my first t3 so some help or suggestions would be really appreciated. the wiring by the headlight has been rigged for that switch. was wondering since parts for these are so dam hard to find that maybe somebody on here has an on/off switch for it. it has twist throttle which i DO NOT like what so ever went on ebay to find a thumb throttle but no luck. i also took some pics of the silencer says J&R spark arrester. if you guys have any info on that. they made this home made metal front fender lol it looks kinda of funky also needs shrouds, fenders and headlight bezel but other then that its a good bike what you guys think got lucky?

I'd say for a running 86/87 it looks like a good start. These came factory with a twist throttle. You might be able to use a thumb throttle from a 250r or other similar honda with that carb.

Whats your plan for it? Resto or just a rider? If you aren't too concerned with it looking factory, you can get a generic headlight switch that looks like it belongs. When the suspension works correctly on these, I think they had they about the best suspension for the 2 stroke trikes. Biggest front fork diameter and the rear shock was pretty advanced for a stock shock in 1986.

One thing I would do is pull your flywheel and check it. The magnets have a tendency to come unglued and can damage your stator. If it's the stock flywheel, take a preventative step and get hold Jeswinehart here on the forums. He encases the magnets so they can't fly off.

Very nice for $750, it would have bought that in a second. Motor looks very clean with little to no leaks?

The J&R is something i've never seen but it says "answer" right next to it. No surprise cause answer was one of the few to make many spark arrestors for many models.
Never seen Bills pipe either. Very cool exhaust.

that is stock on off switch, I saw reproduction wiring and switches (both sides) on ebay that were nice. There were T4 thumb throttles for $20 on ebay too. Just about any sport thumb throttle should work.

The 86 T3 has a great rear shock, just get it rebuilt.

Front fenders are no longer cheap. The others are re-popped.

Yep, you got lucky Gus ! You are gonna have 750 in fun in no time with that score. I have the 87/88 Tecate 4 thumb throttle on my 84/85 Tecate. Don't recall anything goofy hook up wise from putting it on in place of the original twist.
There are a surprising amount of parts out there for your machine, after market replacement and oem but there again I suppose it seems anytime I try to track down a part it becomes hard to find (most the time anyway).
You may already have a upgraded flywheel from RickyStator and if so you are in good shape there.
Hornets power has both the shrouds and head light shell, sblt250r as many support items too (wiring harness and much more), I make a few things replacement wise,,,
Ride it like you stole (since you darn near did )

    Hello gus

    Nice find.

PIPE – A few different people made them including Klemm Research.

SUSPENSION – What is wrong with the rear suspension, too soft, bottoms out etc? They did offer different spring rates so who knows what is on it now. Could just need cleaning, new oil and a new valve pack seal etc.

I did a some of the engineering and ALL the testing on it when I ran Kawi R an D and I can assure you it outperforms ANY 3 wheeler suspension of that era at least under high performance applications especially rough tracks.

J & R SILENCER – What do you want to know about them. They made silencers with their name and also made them for others with the other companies name on them. I’m guessing they are long out of business but not sure.

These guys are correct. You can still find oem parts for these but be patient and have the funds ready. Some stuff is expensive and some not. That is the correct on/off switch and its in better shape than the two i have. There are a few guys on here that have original light switch for the other side but they were asking the moon for them. I just missed a nice one on ebay that went for $21.00 and free shipping but i was in the basement when the listing ended. Good luck with whatever you decide to do with it and be patient on the parts finding.

nice score gus!! I would give you an new oem light switch and a new (non oem)kill switch for the oem kill switch . the shock is more than likely the seal head which is 40 bucks. the thing to check is that the chrome on the shaft is in good shape, If its not you will be looking for a shock with a good shaft or a works shock for 700.00. A 300ex shock will work with some mods, there is some threads on here about it. They say to drill out the top shock mount,That will get it to mount however it will sqeeze the top mount and not allow it to pivot at the top.I am on limited internet access right now ( have to go next door) If you need a hand pm me you number I can see that from my phone.

Hey guys sorry for not responding work has been crazy getting up at 4 am and getting out at 6 and just heading to bed after that and repeat next day I work for coke so we where on ad for memorial weekend. Thank you all for the great info. My plans for her where to tear it down and get it all pretty again. You convinced me about parts but waiting for them to pop up is really not my game (sometimes Patients gets the best of me). As for the shock it's just to weak as soon as I get on it, it just bottoms out but that doesn't stop it it still pulls my fat across the street lol. And as for the pipe. I just thought dg made them I though I hit something from back in the day just cause I never heard of that pipe. And as for the read thumb throttle jeffatc250r I don't think red would look good on it lol. I will let you now broncobeast if I need an axle thanks guys !!
