84 atc250r power mods?

Hi all..i have a totally factory 84' atc250r and was wondering what kind of inexpensive power modsi can do. What do aftermarket reeds do? Do i need to re-jet after any of these mods. Thanx guys yiur info is greatly apreciated

PERFORMANCE REEDS – I’ll leave that for someone that has put them on their bike.

STOCK PIPE/SILENCER – The cheapest easiest way to more hp is replace the stock silencer with an aftermarket one. A non spark arrestor type will give you a little more hp than a spark arrestor type but can’t be used in many areas.

The second thing might be some porting with head mod to match followed lastly by an aftermarket ex pipe.


PS - Just curious, are you the same person whose bike was blowing lot’s of white smoke, had low crank case oil level and possibly a bad crank seal 2 months ago? If so did you get it fixed and what was it?

And a slightly bigger carb. Many think replacing a 32 mm carb with a 40 is going to get them a lot more hp on a mild motor but all it really gives them is a big flat spot when the open the throttle, lol.

Yeah that was me lol i got it fixed it was my clutch side crank seal

A aftermarket pipe and 34mm carb make a big difference. Reeds make the throttle more responsive and crisp.
