    Newbie Asking Strange Questions?

    Hello everyone,
Newbie here. Well actually long time prowler. But anywho.
I just have a few questions.
One : Has anyone purchases a CDI unit like this one?
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=AN88RLIBVPY7D
This seems like a cheap copy of the one I have. An if anyone has how did it go?
Im going to get this one and see if it will work. Because Ive been having spark troubles on my 81 185 honda for some time now and have narrowed it down to the CDI unit is that its the only I cant actually test or atleast I'm getting nothing on my multimeter when I test it. The pulsar ohms within spec. The coil is a new replacement. The ac generator ohms within spec as well as everything else on the bike. An Ive reworked most of the harness with new connectors because the ones that where on it where pretty corroded.
But anyways. Do you guys think this is a good purchase. Ill wait awhile to see if I get any new info.
    Thank you.

O, Just a kind of random thought. Anyone ever put a grease zerk on the rear bearing tube? To grease the bearings without needing to take the whole assembly apart, unless someone knows a better way to do that?
    An thanks.

I say some guys talking about that cdi box. They bought similar ones but cheaper. Like 3 dollars. They just bought 5 just in case they needed another one because they are probably not the most durable units. Heres the link. I think its the one the others were using

Yep, i been using those cheap CDI's here like crazy. I posted a full writeup on here on replacing the CDI on the 84 200ES and similar models that have the later round connector. With your 185 thats plug and play! It will work no problem..

I got them off ebay for like $5 each but it depends on which seller you get them from, anywhere from $3-8 is about average on them.

Thank you, I might get one. But just after I posted that I went out and just because I could. I hit my cdi unit with a rubber mallet an have gotten constant spark with the new coil. So Ive also been working on it most of the day today and have found the timing to be off. So Ive been fiddling with that with some success but very little. Anyone know of an easier way to do this? All the timing marks are right but I still dont get a steady run. Just a slight backfire. O I also took the carb apart and did some work to that as well. Always nice to have parts come loose in the machine. Now I just wish someone made a freaking electric start for beast. Thanks again guys.
