    200x kicker stuck...need help

This is the deal and yes I've already searched the site all over for this exact problem. When I was out riding my 85' 200x a few months ago, my oil pump rotor broke and in turn the cam bushing seized to the cam, locking up the motor. I took the cam out and was still able to kick over the motor (with the cam chain held up out of the way). I took off the clutch cover to fix the oil pump and afterwards put the cover right back on, with all the kicker gears indexed correctly, and the thrust washers in the right spots. I replaced the cam, cam bushing, and rockers in the top end. Motor spins freely off the flywheel, transmission and clutch spin free too. I've checked the kicker gears plenty, but my kicker wont budge. I tried to kick it, it moved maybe an inch really hard and wouldnt come back without tapping the kicker back with a rubber mallet. I've had the clutch and kicker cover off four times each checking things over and still cannot find the problem. Hoping to make a family ride this weekend and I could really use some help.

The outer kicker cover has to have the gasket or it will bind , loosen the screws and see if that does the trick , if so buy a new gasket .

I loosened the cover and no change. The gasket is good also.

Did you remove the large bolt in the middle of the case / back side and then try and reinstall it ? That bolt holds the spring and kicker shaft and puts it all in timing if you will .

Nope, didn't mess with that bolt. I just swapped the clutch cover off my parts motor and that did the trick. Thank you Shortline for your help. I really don't know why the cover swap did it, but it works fine now. BTW, I envy your collection Shortline. Thanks again

I’m having the same issue 12 years later. New Honda gasket bike started yesterday died (cold) and now locks up. Removed and reinstalled the timing bolt seemed to free it up for a few , turned over by hand with no plug in it like 20 times and locked back up. Any help ?
