You won't believe what my dog did!

So I have a pup that's about 8 months old. He has a problem chewing on stuff. He has chewed a lot of things, he even got up on my workbench and got a hold of my Fluke multimeter. He chewed the case that it was in also! Lately he's been good, only chewing on sticks and logs out of the firepit. Until today......my daughter has outgrown her lt80 quad and switched to 3 wheelers so I sold her quad. A friend of mine bought the quad for his daughter. Well it needed a little work so I am fixing it before he takes possession. We dismantled the quad and the frame is on the floor of my garage while we are waiting for parts to show up. Well the dog decided to chew on the wiring harness! Omg I could kill him!! Now I have to find more parts for this quad that isn't even mine anymore.
For the dogs safety I had the kids put him in his kennel, and I am writing this hoping to calm down. I know some day I will look back on this day and laugh but right now ain't that time.

I LOVE animals,and I actually love dogs. ....As long as they aren't on my property. My sons is somewhere around $7500?? in damages and bills. For the life of me I do NOT understand it!! But,,,I sure do know why Veterinarians are wealthy ))..A Fluke Rich,,man that's $300+ alone !?

My sons ate a $600 trampoline safety surround A brand spankin new Rubicon 500 seat and a used TRX 300 seat. That I KNOW of..Hip replacement,,$3600,,food,shots, etc,etc,etc,,,, I JUST DO NOT GET IT!! But,,,hey ,,that's just me. I Love my kitty kitties lol.

Empty a small room, plug an old extension cord into the wall and lock the dog in the room alone with the live cord. When you hear a loud yelp, you can let the dog out and be pretty sure he won't chew on any more wires.

We have another dog that liked to chew on stuff. One time he chewed a pair of my work boots. I took those boots and tied them to his collar for the rest of the day. When he walked the boots would swing around and kick him! He doesn't chew on stuff since then!

Ok this is a story about Jed, a beagle I bought at a flea market. He was about 10 weeks old when I got him. Beagles are very hard headed and stubborn. By about 5 months old I had him trained to follow the scent of a rabbit and bring me the dummy after he found it. He was also cross training as a house dog, that was working out real well. One night after I had been working out in the freezing cold all day I came home and wanted to relax in my recliner. He was just being a dog, wanting to sit on my lap. I did not want him up there and pushed him down off the chair a few times before yelling at him. He ran over to the couch sat down on it and gave me a death stare. I said to my wife "look at the little baby over there pouting because I wont let him on my lap." That's about the time he jumped off of the leather couch and piss went every where!!!! He had peed on the couch out of spite. Told the wife I was going to kill him, she said no. We agreed that she had 2 weeks to find him a home or he was done.

Fast forward a week or so. I dont remember what he did, but I put him in his kennel cause he was bad. I heard something that sounded like water running. I turned and looked to find that adorable little beagle hiking his leg peeing on the floor through the cage wires. This incident sealed the deal he was going away tonight. My wife called our friends Ed and Megan to see if they would take him. Ed's rabbit hunting beagle Pepper had just died a few weeks earlier. Since Jed was learning the rabbit game really good, Ed was glad to take him. They came right over to get him. I offered him the cage we had bought for him. Ed refused saying they would just use the baby gate they used to keep pepper in the laundry room when they weren't home. I told him that Jed can jump high enough to get on the kitchen counter, and that a baby gate will not contain him. He still refused it and said the gate would work just fine. On the ride to his new home Jed took a nervous dump on Megan's lap in the truck.

A couple of days later Ed called and said "Greg, I want to know what is wrong with this dog". I laughingly said "why what do you mean?" He said that he was the perfect dog. They played out in the snow with him and his 2 year old son and he followed him the whole time he was shoveling the sidewalk and drive way. He went on to say that the dog is now lying on the floor next to his recliner fast asleep. I said "just wait till you make him mad."

A day or 2 before Christmas my cousin went over to Ed's house. Ed was in the garage putting a new cord in his $400 coon hunting light. Jed got over the gate and got a hold of it. Cousin Mike said that dont look too bad and not very expensive to fix. Thats when Ed told Mike to go in the house. Mike said he went in the house and there was wrapping paper EVERYWHERE!! That dog had destroyed all of the Christmas presents they had bought that year and tipped the tree over.

Ed decided that Jed was now an outside dog. But that's not the end of it. Jed found the place where they buried pepper and dug her up. Ed, now furious, called me and cussed me up one side and down the other for pawning this dog off on him. He was going to do the same thing I was going to do with him, but Megan found him a home. Those people had him for about a week before he "ran away".

That has been over 5 years ago, but I still have nightmares about Jed. I have woke up in the middle of the night, sat straight up in bed and screamed "I am going to kill that G** D*** Dog".

It is all behind us now and we can share a laugh about it now.

Funny that dog went for the Fluke meter, i lost set of leads to a new puppy here myself, she jumped up and pulled the leads off the bench and chewed the ends off, i had it set to continuity testing when i walked away and i started hearing this beeeeeeepppp... beep... beeeep beeeep... Looked back and that little SOB was chewing the leads off... Thankfully the meter wasn't damaged, a new set of leads for $30 and it was kept tucked away back farther on the bench from then on.

Funny i see the extension cord was mentioned... I had another dog years ago that was on a tie out next to the house one afternoon and i was having dinner and the tv started getting fuzzy then went out. That stupid dog chewed through the coax! So i moved her to the front yard and fixed the damage by running a new cable and replacing the end of the drop where it came out of the ground, was in the middle of winter and digging down to get to good cable to make the repair was no fun!

About a week later i put out christmas lights and as it started to get dark i noticed they weren't on, they were plugged into a timer. I went out and sure enough that stupid dog pulled the cord out of the timer and chewed the end off. Well i fixed that and again tied the dog in a new spot. Then she started to chew through her tie out because there was nothing else. I was fed up... I took a black extension cord tossed it across the lawn, plugged it into a NON-GFCI outlet and walked away. Two hours or so later i heard the most disturbing yelping and screaming like sounds from the front yard, stepped out the door and the dog was jittering around on the cable mouth clamped down, i unplugged the cord and she crawled away and hid under the picnic table in the front yard for about 8 hours before she came out. After that, no more chewing problems period...

I think all dog owners have their chewing stories! I also had a dog once that was left upon me, it was a of a dog, about three days later he went "missing" also.
