I was just going to comment on this because it comes up a lot. I have shipped fenders to, and up to $100 is the norm. I shipped a set of 110 fenders about a year ago and used a local UPS Store, they boxed it and filled with foam peanuts for fill and had it nicely suspended in a box to prevent damage, total cost for materials and shipping was about $90, the shipping itself was $60 and the box was $20, and the packing and peanuts was $10.
Now having said that... I have shipped many other large items with nothing more than a few layers of the plastic wrap and put the shipping label under the top layer and away it went. But i would never do that for something like plastic fenders with some age on them, no telling how UPS or FedEx or whoever would stack it in their truck, toss stuff on top of it, etc. If i was selling on eBay i would never do less than a box and padding, just asking for a case against you for every little crack.
I did ship a 200M rear set to a guy in Wisconsin last year, used SpeeDee, its a local service we have up here that serves only seven states and part of St Louis MO. Those guys are CHEAP and FAST and they really handle stuff with care from what i have seen. That shipment only cost me $40!!
