Fun things found disassembling an engine.

I got this dirt cheap for parts. Think the guy was trying to strip it down and part it out, but didn't finish.

    Things to note:

The flywheel was BEAT. You could see he had whacked it a bunch with a . If you must beat on something on an engine with a , at least use a rubber mallet or lead. And use the correct puller, even some axles have the same threads I believe..... I pulled a whole side case, flywheel, starter gear, etc in maybe 5 minutes or less just last night. It's worth it to buy the right tools. (Electric impact and flywheel pusher bolt.)

Don't use hard metals to lock gears. Use a penny. Or use/make a correct tool. Do NOT use a cheap set of pliers.

This is what I found when I split the case, I could see some stuff in the bottom, figured it was the cases' missing portions, also from being hit with a .

Didn't get run like this or else there'd be noticeable internal damage, but just goes to show that you can really mess up an engine and risk breaking things if you don't do things right and use the right tool. It's amazing that this crank end wasn't stripped with the LH nut.

This was supposed to be just a short rant, but I tend to get carried away. You guys ever found anything odd in engines?

fat shady... what is all that?? it looks like a piece to needle nose pliers... and parts of a glass "tobacco" pipe

which would actually explain why the pliers were there....

I never found anything too interesting inside a motor... but I once bought a 85 200x for 50 bucks because the guy tried to rebuild it & could never get it running... only to find out he never installed the key on the cam for the cdi...

Buddy's 500+hp 454 fresh out of the "Speed Shop", a 7/16" wrench in the intake port of the head. Found it because it was banging around while running, so he pulled the manifold and there it was. Called the mechanic and told him and the guys just says "oh, I've been looking for that wrench, when can you drop by and bring it back?"
