    easy

With the money you would spend to make a 200x that much faster, you can buy a 350X or 250R.

here's the big question,, what year??? BIG deal, if it is a 85, 86 or the magical 87, then its easy to make it as fast as your wallet can handle .. If ti is a 84 or below , your screwed, get rid of it, there is nothing you can do ?????

Dude, the 85 is pretty much the exact same bike as the 83 and 84 and totally different than the 86-87's. I'm not sure, but I would think the earlier years (83-85) would be easier to modify since bigger production numbers usually equals greater aftermarket availability.

    speed

well,,, first off,,, welcome to the 3www.

a simple and inexspensive way to increase your top end speed would be to change one of the sprockets. the front one is gonna be the easiest.
i can't find what the stock sprocket size is for your 200x but your locole parts guy will be able to fix you up.
you will loose a portion of your low end tourqe but higher speed will be gained if you increase the front sprocket size by a couple of teeth
( and you won't hafta buy a longer chain if you only go 2 larger wich by the way you will defintly be able to tell you done something )

the stock size for the 83-85 200x's is 12/40...I had a 13/40 on mine and noticed about 3-4 mph gain....you can do anything to a 200x....bore, stroke, pipe, jet, 6 speed (xr200),valves, carb, cam, sprockets, tires. im sure there are other ones also.

You really want to beable to keep up?? Sell your 200X(some bring good money depending on condition) then get yourself an aircooled R (83 or 84) You should be pleased with its performance. Then when you want something with more power get a liquid R,or a 350X. Depending on what you like (2 stroke/4 stroke)

I noticed a good power increase with my 200x by putting aftermarket exhaust, Bigger main jet, and Aftermarket Air Filter and pulling the top off the airbox to allow more airflow. For all of this your talking about $150

Hey thanks alot for the opinions of what i should do to my 200x i just found a tri z today for nine hundred but i think i could talk him down to around six hundred. It needs some work like plastic. I noticed some oil around where the shaft came out of the trans. I hope it just needs a seal or sumthing. He also said it was an EXracer. But i cant find any proof behind that except that he siad he put a frount brake on it since your not aloud to have them in the races. Its also board and just rebuilt too. but everything is there. is it worth it :?:

I agree with 84250r,the air cooled 250R's are pretty fast and you could keep up with your friends.

Same Mods as every other 4 stroke:

    -Exhaust
    -Valves
-High Compression lightweight Piston w/ Overbore OR a Big Bore
    -Air Filter w/ airbox mods
-Larger Carb (IF you can find one for a 200x. There is one larger-than-stock one still made but its at a cost)
-Change your sprockets (as Johnny said)
-Clutch Kit (lighter, stronger friction plates)
-Tires and Rims make a differance in acceleration and top speed as well.

Thatd be a good start. =0)

    Good Luck,
    Rob
