So I get a phone call this morning..............

Last week we sold a quad to a guy ( Tom ). Then a couple days ago Tom calls me out of the blue. He says a guy name Dave (***) has some 3 wheeler stuff he wants to sell. Soe new stuff and a couple machines. Tom said he doesn't have the space or money to buy the stuff so he gave Dave my number(s). Tom also called me to let me know about the stuff. Being as I really don't have spare room at the moment I sorta put the deal on the slow cooker. I did talk to Mike ( Pickle ) a little about the stuff and told him ( Pickle we should at least go see what he has Just in case ).

So this morning around 10 my phone rings. Caller ID didn't ring a bell but it was a local number so I picked up. He told me his name was Dave ( **** ) and that a guy Tom knows was into 3 wheelers ( Me ) and had gave him my number. He explained he had worked on stuff for years and decided he was retiring and is wanting to clean out some stuff to make space for other things. He told me had a broke down Yam 200 that the top end was off and the original owner left it at his place for a very long time. He also has a Honda 90 in peices, plus some other misc parts. He wouldn't mention a price for anything. He said to get with my friend and come look at the stuff and shoot him an offer if we were interested. I told him Pickle had stuff to get done before doing anything. I also told him I had some stuff I had to get done before I could even think about stopping out to look at the stuff. I told him I would call him when I got my stuff done.

Now I had been to Dave's place back in 1988, but I had never personally bought anything from him. So I knew where his shop was. So I called him around 6-6:30 or so tonight. He was at home and said come on out. Pickle was on a boat so Anthony and me head out and get there about 10-15 min later. Dave starts showing me some of the stuff he wants to sell. Nothing really exciting to see until Anthony spotted some Old School Dick Cepek Spider Trac's ( 22x11x8 ). He was a drooling!! LOL We Love the Spider Trac's.

Dave has a around 15-20 NOS tires stacked up. Dave and me got talking about all sorts of stuff 3 wheeler related. He then showed me some other stuff he had and wanted to sell. Anthony kept bugging me about the tires, so we went back to that area and started talking tires and prices. The prices were good ( OK Great ) and I decided to look through the stack to see what the one set was. I hadn't seen tht tread design in person before. So I pulled the 1 tire out to check size and such. The first thing I see is Dick Cepec and then I seen it. These tires have Three Wheeler molded right into the side wall. I have seen pictures of this logo years ago, but never in person that I can remember. So here I am holding 2 22x11x8 NOS Dick CepeK "Three Wheeler" model tires. I turned around and told Dave point blank: "I ain't leaving here without these tires". Yea, I lost the ability to get a better deal with that comment. LOL I also stumbled upon a NOS 200x / 350x front tire. I put it in the stack of MUST have as well.
So I'm thinking if he has Old School tires what other gems can I find. Then the NOS 83-85 200x front fender found me, then out of the blue 4 boxes started drawing me closer. I peek in the boxes and find more NOS stuff. Throttle, clutch, brake, and even a speedo cable. I also seen a speedo mount. He mentioned New batteries and I found 3 that I can use.

We wheeled and dealed and then talked for a couple hrs. We ended up leaving with the Car Loaded as full as we could pack it. I may have emptied my wallet but I got a few things that I never thought I would have even gotten. I even picked up a set of 250sx rear fenders for a friend. Dave was impressed with things I knew and such that he is letting me put the deal together on the fender. After some talking we realized Dave used to work with my Dad when he was kid. Dave knew my Grandpa and done work on his farm, and then started driving Semi for the same company I work for. Dave got his start at our Local Honda dealer but that ended in 1983.

Dave also has a 1984 200s 3 wheeler that has 12-1 Piston, cam, and performance exhaust for sale as well. This machine has never been rode in the dirt and he bought it new. Other than the top end and exhaust the machine is 100% original Not sure what to offer him on this machine, but it's nice!!!

Actually as I was talking to him and he could tell my passion for 3 wheelers he mentioned another 90 in another barn. So we went to look at it. It is a 74 model. It's just a frame with a rear tire, forks gas tank and seat / fenders. The seat isn't the best from memory ( I was still pinching myself from the other goodies I found ). I didn't buy it all yet but I am going to. So when I pick up the rest of the stuff I will get pics and we will go from there.

Dave knows the stuff is worth something. How ever he wants / needs the space for something else so he wants the stuff to find a good home. He said to me: "I can tell you have the passion and knowledge of the old stuff. I can tell it's going to go to a good home." He is dealing and broke or not I am buying. The guy knows his stuff also and I want to pick his brain on some things.

He also has a 1984 ATC200s purchased new. He took the standard piston out and put a 12-1 piston, 26 mm carb, different camshaft, and a performance exhaust. These motor mods were only done to show his customers what a few little upgrades will do for power. He wns to sell it as well, but we haven't talked price yet. This thing has never seen grass or dirt. It was only rode on the back road. He said it might have 10-15 hours on it. I couldn't find any rust including on the under side of the machine. The only issue I seen was it was dusty from sitting. I am hoping I can get it bought. Maybe it can be a Future Trikefest Raffle trike? :Thinking

My brother in law worked for a Honda dealer from the late 70's into the early 90's. When the ban went into place and the dealers could no longer sell 3wheelers or take them in on trade, he would offer to buy them personally, usually for dirt cheap. He ended up with a barn full of them. Eventually he sold them all off. I had two little kids then so I didn't have money for a bunch of toys. I did however get a 74 atc 70 from him for my son when he turned 5.
