    Clean Yamaha 225

I think this is a 225DX, but I don't know my Yamaha's very well. Over-priced, but says OBO and seems motivated.

Yep, it's a 225dx. I typically see them listed for $900 around here in that condition.

    That trike is pretty clean!

Below are pictures of a 225DX that I may try and buy this weekend.

The guy said it's been sitting since 1990 and that the motor is stuck. It appears to be all original. If I can get it for the right price, I'll bring it home this weekend.

I'm looking at it this Sunday. Is there anything I should be looking at closely? I know more about Honda's than Yamaha's.

If the engine is locked, then I guess you can part it. I do know that yammy parts on eBay aren't cheap. The pull starts and the exhausts go for a lot since you don't see many offered on eBay. I've seen them as high as $200 for each.

    Thank you Max.

This machine is way to nice to part So I bought the machine yesterday then was able to 'unlock' the engine. I put some mystery oil down the cylinder, let it sit for a couple of hours and was able to move it by removing the pull starter, and used a long breaker bar (nice and slow). It seems to have good compression so my intentions are to get it up and running, replace the oil in both the engine and rear shaft, fuel filter and battery (which I already have). Once all that is done, I'll detail the entire machine and ad it to my collection

What size front tire is on that? The one on my 200k is stock size, but looks freakin wide.

Thank you Red Sox. Max, the size of the front tire is 22x11x8.0. It still has the original tires.

Mine has some wacky brand on the front...just looks big. I think you can still get the stock tires for it. Dunlop I believe.

I was able to get it running today but the carburetor was very badly corroded inside, so I'm on the hunt for a functioning carburetor.
