Thanks again guys for the help but after some research in my shop manual it seems i might need some special tools for the clutch removal, the whole process looks easy until you get to the clutch then the manual starts talking about needing a Clutch Holder Tool,Lock Nut Wrench Tool, and also a Clutch Pulling Tool? does anyone know anything about these tools? I am mostly mechanically inclined but have never had to pull any kind of atv or atc engine apart before tho everything up to the clutch removal part looks real easy in the service manual.

If anyone could maybe tell me soemthing about these tools if thats just churched up names for socket wrenches and pulley pullers i might have the tools already. Thnaks again many times in advanced for any and all help.

I don't have any of those specialty tools. I simply use a standard deepwell socket and a good air impact wrench. It takes just a short burst and the nut is loose. I install it the same way.

    Hello hheywire

I just noticed that I copied the url links I gave you in an earlier post off of another post I made, but since the site shortens the url’s the links wouldn’t work. I didn’t think of that when I copied them, however since I do not have an edit button I now must make this post with an explanation and correction, lol. Sorry about that. Below is the correct url’s.

At cmsnl.com, the prices on the site are in Euros, multiply by 1.301 to get US dollars. They are one of the biggest suppliers of NOS OEM parts in the world. They often have parts when partzilla and others don’t. I also listed a quality replacement by Shindy mfg. which will save you $23.95 [free shipping in US] over the lowest price supplied by others and the cmsnl price I supplied will save you $10.94 on an NOS OEM one, shipping not included.

    BEARING P/N 91101-HA0-004 [OLD P/N 91101-HA0-003]

Atc500x’s OEM price $97.44 plus shipping

Howdy’s OEM price $83.94 not $83.40 but whose counting.

    Cmsnl’s OEM price $72.869

    Shindy’s price for replacement $59.99

    OEM ITEM 25 $73.00

SHINDY BRAND JAPANESE MADE REPLACEMENT $59.99 FREE SHIPPING

SUPERSEDED PART NUMBERS - Whenever you are trying to find a part and you locate the number in a parts fiche etc, and it lists more than one number but it does NOT say "up to VIN xxxxx", then any numbers listed for that part in that particular parts fiche will work. They extra numbers will most commonly say "superseded by p/n "x"" but not always.

No, it is not. See explanation above and below.

The p/n I listed is correct. It is even listed in the Western Honda link you posted AND the one provided by atc500x. See url’s to both links below. The 003 number is the original number which was superseded by the 004 number but will still work if one can be located. The number was changed because Honda either changed the design of the part in some way and/or or switched vendors. Either part will work.

That's just one of the "proper" part numbers, the other is 91101-HA0-003 which was superseded by 91101-HA0-004.

See explanation above, plus I have no edit button so I can’t make any corrections.

    What’s your point?

Sometimes cmsnl.com is the only supplier with the OEM part one is looking for, so if one wants OEM and cmsnl.com is the only one that has it, the buyer has an option to buy from them or not. They also sell many other NOS OEM parts for Honda and other bikes as well so it seems to me that since these OEM NOS parts are getting so hard to find that it might be a good idea to know all the OEM suppliers one can. They also ship parts.

    Hello hheywire

    Post correction.

"Shindy’s price for replacement $59.99" should read "Shindy price from Ebay seller $59.99"

"OEM ITEM 25 $73.00" should read "OEM ITEM 25 $72.869"

    Hello SUPERTEX

The cheapest part is occasionally the cheapest part for a reason. In this case the part you are looking at it is the cheapest part simply because it is the cheapest quality, same with most parts from China. Since your bike was not made in Taiwan or China I suggest you avoid buying parts for it from these countries whenever possible. I personally would not use that part if someone gave it to me and installed it for free. Others opinions will vary.

Going from memmory I think it was a 30mm socket. The washers for the oil line are re-useable. I have never bought new ones and never had a leak from the old ones either.

The 2 jaw clamp puller is to remove the clutch, but I have never used one. I simply remove by hand. All the manufactures come up with their own tools to do this or do that. They then sell these tools as specialty tools ( Bigger $$$ ) to make even more money. They do this even though many of tools aren't a requirement because other tools will do the same job and they cost a lot less. Many tools are common in many garages / shops. To me it's why have 2-5 different tools that do the same as one of my universal tools. Money saved on my part.

I personally use OEM parts as much as possible. But the price of that sprag / one-way clutch is a good deal and I might just test one in the future ( I have a machine that needs fixed this fall ).

I think once you do one of these you will find your way over thinking things. If you were close I would personally show you how simple it really is.

I would also order a new oil filter ( or 2 ). Might as well change the oil and clean the screen while you have the side cover off.

    Howdy

    Hello hheywire and SUPERTEX

Here’s the original bearing if you need one and prefer to use it instead of the later one. It shows that it's available however unlike cmsnl.com, partzilla and others occasionally show a part is available long after they have run out of it.

    PRICE $98.62

Ok thanks again guys all this info is very useful and i hope the clutch is as easy to just pull out as you say im going to give it a try in a few week prob after this damn rainy season calms down it rains every after noon here right now really makes it hard to finish a job you get started

And also i just changed the oil and oil filter havent tooken the case off to clean the screen or oil pump tho as it says to in the manual my dad always tells me to not go in to deep if its running right hes always saying he never did this or that and he has a 85 250r that runs perfect still so i havent bothered to break the case open for the other stuff

Oh and one more thing the manual doesnt seem to say just how to pull the one way bearing out of the clutch im going to double check but can i just knock it out or something simple like that? Again Thanks all!!

I just bought the atc 250es yesterday. Turns out its the one way bearing, clicks after I kick the starter. I found a new one way bearing for 50 dollars, price aint too bad. Still
trying to tinker with the carb.

I guess no one saw this question, it is not pressed, it should basically fall out when everything is removed. They are a very ingenious design.
