Sounds like you're on the right track.
I got so aggravated with my tractor, I put a big red carb on it.

Anyway, do you see gas coming out of the fuel line?
Might be better to check at the float bowl drain.
Could be as simple as a gas tank vent.
Great idea to check for spark when it dies too.
Without tools, you can just unscrew the sparkplug cap and check for spark
with the plug wire against the engine.
See if the plug wire is getting green and corroded where the spark plug cap screws in while you're in there.
Nipping the last 1/4 inch off that wire may make a difference too.

    Keep us posted.

I'm pretty sure it's not the carb cause the bike ran good with it but I didn't think about vent I used to have a 185 s that would pressure lock on me I ended up drilling a hole in the gas cap an threading a small fitting into it to put a small breather on but with this I have a wire coming out of the side case that is about to break off I'm not sure if that Woodlake it die on me or not is the magneto on the break pedal side on this my bike it's on the other side but heads are backwards so I guess it's possible

An easy way to check if gas cap vent [as tri again suggested] is the problem is to simply crack it open a little then after the problem occurs and try it again or leave it open a little and try it on a flat road with less than half a tank so you don’t get splashed.

If you try his recommendations and they don’t fix it then based upon those results and your current description of the problem it is an electrical one. Most likely the CDI.

Take plug wrench and phillips screw driver with you when you ride to check plug and gas drain in carb if you want.

Ohm the ign coil and stator coils per manual cold and hot. If they check out ok it is most likely the CDI.

    Hello

How long does it have to sit before it starts again?

CDI TEST - If it has to sit at least 40 minutes before it restarts remove the CDI immediately once the problem occurs and put it in the fridge for 15 minutes then reinstall it. If it runs again then do the test 1 more time. If results are the same then your CDI is bad.

i agree with testing the gas cap first my 85 250es big red had a problem with the gas cap too, and then checking the cdi would be my next move

The gas cap got me once, I had my 200m running perfect, went on a long ride and it pluged up, It would run fine and just die on me, I had to bomb start it over and over again until I finally took the gas cap off and it ran perfect, I was so mad at the machine I almost left it behind and walked home. such a simple thing made me feel realy dumb for not figuring it out sooner
