    Ebay new bestoffer policy.

Anyone here of this load of crap eBay has been trying? They changed the best offer system basically so if a buyer offers you a sum of money and you accept the offer, the buyer still has a chance to back out or not follow through. But my question is, they still offered you the money first of all. YOU accepted. Therefore the auction should end like it always had. eBay claims it gives the buyer time to think and lets other buyers know if someone is looking at an item. Many eBay members across eBay's forum are rioting. My dad is one of them, hes been a member since 1998 (They were founded in 1995), He has had over 400 transactions with a 100% feedback. He stopped selling 3 years ago due to the change in eBay listing fees. He recently began selling in the past 3 weeks and sold over $1000 in antiques he has been itching to get rid of. He soon realized why he stopped. eBay's patented business model basically creates a monopoly. They don't value there member's and only change things to benefit them.

ALSO TO ADD. this policy is only valid in certain categories. luck fully not in 3 wheeler parts. his policy will probably disappear from all the rioting.

Also, there's that annoying crap that says how many people viewed an item, how many watched it in the past hour, etc. Any reason to scare someone into buying something before it's "gone" imo.

You hit that one right on the spot. this company has no respect for even the biggest members. May i add that there customer service is a joke. You have to go through 10 pages of internet crap before you actually get to use the phone. You cannot understand there heavy foreign accents that cannot speak English. Now when i list i'm going to post in my auction description that i will lower my buy it now price if your contact me. I don't know if that violates Feebays policy and I don't care.

I occasionally use the Best Offer option and I'm surprised by how many people don't know how it works. I would guess 50% are surprised when I send them an invoice when I accept their offer. They didn't know it meant they bought it. I'm guessing this policy is to get rid of the complaining buyers so they don't have to deal with them. I rarely sell on there anymore

We need a better option. Every auction site competing with eBay has basically failed. Lately i have just been doing transactions person to person on 3ww.

It would be cool if everyone could list their product in the 3WW store, and it would still be categorized by model. Have our own little system going here, would bring in a lot of traffic to the site and also bring some revenue for the site if the people who own this place really wanted to. Cover costs to keep it up and to pay someone to create the whole thing. Just a cool thought.

It must be only in a rare few categories, because i use the best offer option all the time and i have never had an issue with stuff like that. The only thing i have come across is someone sending a best offer and then i accepted and invoiced them and they didn't realize they won, which is stupid because when you place a best offer there is a confirmation that comes up that says its the same as entering a bid or buy it now and that your entering a contract to purchase and pay, yada yada..

I don't know, my experience with eBay has been up and down over the years. Sometimes its a pain, sometimes its the only way i can get a wide audience on a harder to sell item due to a smaller market, etc. As they increase fees i increase prices, not much i can do. They started charging final value fees on shipping because people were circumventing fees by putting a large portion of their profit in the shipping. Thanks to all those idiots i now pay final value fees on shipping, when all i charge is the actual shipping cost for flat rate priority on over 90% of my sales. The others are estimated using UPS or FedEx websites with weight and size and i normally come down to within a dollar or less.

So i had to raise my shipping and listing prices to cover the fees once again. There really is no replacement for eBay.

As for PayPal, i have no complaints, i use them for personal and business, have their card reader for my phone, it keeps all my accounts in one place and safe. I had my PayPal debit card show weird charges on it from overseas, one ten minute phone call and all the charges were reversed and a new card issued. My bank isn't even that fast dealing with fraud.

I still will use eBay for buying those hard to find things, and pay pal is very convenient. The categories affected are like jewelery, watches, and stuff like that. But it is only a beta and i hope they don't move forward with it. Some of the big jewelery guys on the eBay forum have claimed to lost $1000's of dollars because of this.

I deal with ebay and paypal, never had any problems. But, i don't sell much on ebay either. Paypal seems pretty solid when
you need to send money quickly. I have noticed on 3ww buying from members, the prices are much more in line with what
they are worth. Oh, and the best offer option worked fine for me when buying. If you are a seller, i'm pretty sure you
don't have to offer that if you don't want to. Just my 2 cents...

Ebay has millions of auctions each day, they couldn't care less if you don't like their policies.

It was a good auction site but now is struck by the same lightning bolt - CORPORATE GREED!!

I had been selling since '99. I have over 2500 feedback.I stopped selling a 3 years ago myself.Their fees got crazy and the seller pretty much lost all rights. I never really had any problems with sales.I did receive a few negative feedback. But those were from sellers before sellers were not allowed to leave negative feedback. I enjoyed watching the sales and talking with new people. But since they changed I gave up.I sell one or two things every once in awhile.I really just a buyer now. I was unaware of the best offer change. What is there to think about? You thought of an offer and took the time to place it. You raise your hand at an auction. You better have the funds!! You cant change your mind after the auctioneer says SOLD!!! I bet the government took it over. They screwed everything else up!!

Feebay.... that is why I started my own site for atc parts (and random atv parts when I get to parting stuff out more). Fees = $12 / year for domain, $9/month for hosting several sites, or 12-15% on ebay (with paypal fees)... easy choice for me .

I agree that an "auction" section on 3ww would be great. When I first looked @ the shop here, I was thinking why there wasn't more parts and such there, then noticed it was all "new" parts. I bet a classifieds section on 3ww would make the owners a fair profit with say 2-4% in fees. The software should already be out there to make it happen and a little editing to make it work with the forum logins.

As for the best offer policy.. didn't know about the change, but havn't sold on ebay for a few months now too. I'll remember to NOT add that option on my listings and put in the listing if you want to offer me a price, send me a message about it and I'll edit the listing for anyone to win.
