you could plow snow with that skid plate
You can also tell by the black plastic diagonal cover on the right side of the engine that covers the starter motor. It's not a perfect oval like on the '85 and '86. The '87 comes to a bit of a point at the top.

Unless you plan on driving offroad with it, it will get hung up on everything cause its only 2 inches off the ground. Lol
