    200S Piston Ring???

Putting new rings on my 84 200s. The new rings are made by ArmorTech. All is good but the middle oil ring. It looks smaller than the piston diameter and its a different design the OE one. It does not look like it would seal well. Anyone ever used these rings and had any problems, or is it a better design? Help me out please. I can post a pic if it would help.

here are the differences. the 1 oil rings sit on each side of the ring pictured. that is the oiler ring not an oil ring. the 2 oil rings that are thin sit on each side of it and are called oil whipers actually. anyway, what the differences are is this the oem had thinner whipper rings while this one uses a thicher (wider as far as piston to edge size) than the oem. should be fine. just make sure the whiper rings are properly isntalled and seated correctly and your set. always isntall the oiler ring or center ring forst when doing oil rings. (3 in 1 set) I have sued both styles over the years and both work fine as long as theya re proeprly isntalled. actually the new ring is easier to work with than the older one in my opinion.
    good luck.

    Hello

You should measure your bore if you haven't. If it is out of round by .0015 and/or has a taper of .0015 or more the rings will not seal properly. The piston to cylinder clearance should also be measured.

If all is good cyl should be honed with a cross hatch pattern to promote ring sealing.

Those rings are either Chinese or Taiwanese.

The ring on the right is the most common however I personally would use the oem Honda style and Japanese made rings.
