How many do I really need?

This birthday is really kicking my sensabilities.

I've got 2 Honda 110 models that were bought together new,
a handful of trashy, FUN 90 models.
and another handful of 250 sx / es models, say 4 of each? and
a few 250 parts machines and now a new 87 sx I could really live without
except it makes me smile just to look at.

How many do I really need?
How can I sell machines that cost me virtually nothing.

Easier to sell when they run but then I want to keep them
after getting them up and going.

    Keep 2 of each?

Honestly looking fwd to some creative wisecrack answers but surely some of you will feel my pain.

    Thanks in advance.

For me, "How Many?" is answered by, "How much storage space?".

I know it's time to sell a few when I have to store 1 or 2 in the van. Like now...

I have to agree with jb2....BR and BW are now stored in enclosed trailer, with a Yam 200k sitting outside (was supposed to be sold this wkd but guy backed out) I have more trikes/projects than I have listed in my signature. Space is at a premium to say the least. I even stood 3 KLT's up on end so I could fit another one in the shed. Time to inventory and figure out what I really "want" to keep. (said that before LOL) As stated, it's all about space (after the #1 variant.....money).

i part them, only keep what im building and always keep the spare that no one wants. I've cleaned out many stashed of parts to only have a full garage 2-3 years later of stuff. This weekends may land a atc250r parts and a 200s....you know when you see things laying in a field and you get excited ya got issues.

right now i got almost enought to build somthing from just spares laying around.

When you resort to storing them outside in the elements covered in a tarp you have too many..

Now stacking them carefully on top of one another in a shed is good.

You just haven't had the rules or engagement properly explained to you!

Ahh Bill? I've seen your shrine, you're way beyond a "collection". My KLT 185's are my treasures in my simple little mind and the BR was my first so she won't be going anywhere anytime soon. I keep gathering them thinking I'll fix them up and turn a buck to improve this one or that one. Not working out too well for me so far. I get them running and it's like, hmm this is kinda unique to the rest maybe I'll keep it. Besides what's listed I have 2 83 YTM 200K's 84 atc 110 blue, 79 atc 110, 84 200s, 200 auto x project in the way infant stages (as most of the rest are) and thanks stud25 I brought home a 84 atc 70 from TF. Along with tubs of parts from a handful that gave up the ghost long before I parted them out. YOU on the other hand sir, have way more trikes and NOS goodies than any one enthusiast should have . One of these days I'm coming back up there and we will inventory your parts "pile".

tri-again, its useless I've tried to restrain and have failed. It's my drug of choice which is why my wife is compliant. Buuuut she has mentioned that when I have them sitting outside the addiction taking over

I have had them in my living room. Thankfully, I have a semi-tolerant wife.

I have figured that the trick is to pay as little as possible, or trade for another if possible. This eases the beating you will receive after telling her you bought another. When I told her I traded the kawasaki for a 250r, after the swelling in my eye went down I could see she was pretty cool about it
