I just did the job on my 225dx 84' a week ago and its not to complicated for the shaft.... only to place the joint at the right place and your ok. if yours is like mine was, its gonna be stuck in rust and your gonna have to cut the pivot shaft and everuthing ... a big job of 200$ can . And by the way take a good look at the condition of the joint, cracks ,if it was fixed up... mine broke in 4 because the guy that as it before fixed it up like a dumb:shock:

It shouldn't be too bad to do. I would pull the axle so you can take off the rear gear pumpkin, this will release the shaft. Then all you have to do is remove the swing arm. I had mine off in under an hour. I am currently rebuilding an '84 225DX. Few bolts and you should be in business. Good luck. Let me know if you have any questions.
Anyone know of a new project machine for me around Wisconsin?

...mine were a ROYAL pain in the ass. You need to take half the rear end apart to do it. Hope to God too that the pivot shafts arnt rusted in there - the allen bolt holes will strip out in a heart beat. I also had a terrible time removing the bearings - they fell apart leaving the outer race rusted stuck in the pivot housing.
