Can anyone tell me why the side panels are soooo expensive. I've been watchin ebay and have yet to see ONE side less than $100. Am I missin something here? Are they made of gold?

Because they are always the first thing to get taken off and lost and there are no replacments made.

No, it is way to much money for what they are but that seems to be the going rate. The kicker one is the one that is so hard to find. I have never seen the kicker side under $100 the lefts a little less. You run across the lefts more often. The big red I just bought came with N.O.S rear fenders and both side covers all new, but I need them.

Maier makes these as does Jswinehart on here. I think he only makes the kicker side so far? So,there is hope.

And no camo. It will be the original Big Red within reason. I will be putting on the aluminum rims and 2" lift kit though

So today I started working on my big red. When I bought it the guy squirted some starter fluid in it and it popped over and sounded good. Well today I ripped the carb out to rebuild it and then changed the oil filter and that's when I got a bit disappointed . As I pulled the oil filter I noticed at least a half thimble of fine metal shavings. OUCH!!!. As soon as I am finished with the carb rebuild, (waiting for kit) I will take it for an actual test drive for the hell of it but I do believe an engine rebuild is in my near future. I am thinking probably over the winter time as money is a little tight now. So I will have to do some searching on the forum and web and see what this is gonna cost me

    Carb rebuild kit................$18 Ebay
    Oil Filter.........................$7 O'reily auto parts
    Exhaust system...............$75 Ebay

Exhaust system came yesterday from ebay and I was mildly surprised. It was in really nice shape with no dents or holes at all!. So hopefully within the next few days I will be disassembling, sand blasting and then powder coating. I have High temp black powder for it and then red powder for guard or maybe polish chrome. Not sure yet how my red powder will match the big red end color
