Help with 1982 ATC 70 carburetor rebuild PLEASE!

I'm gonna try to be as brief as I can:

My son is driving his '82 atc 70 a week or so ago. No problems for the last year. All of the sudden, gas starts dripping really fast out of the air box.

I take the carb apart and there appears to be nothing wrong with the carb itself, but the needle seems to be sticking. I order a carb rebuild kit off Ebay from the same guy I got the aftermarket carb from a few years ago. Take the carb completely apart and clean it really well. Blow it all out with the air compressor nozzle to make sure of no dirt or anything. Put the new carb kit on it. Turn out the air screw two full turns and the idle screw two full turns just for starters. Put it back on along with the gas tank. Give it two or three pulls, and gas starts dripping back out of the air box again!

I repeat the paragraph above about three or four times so far with the same results. With all the gas dripping out of this thing, I'm seriously ready to drag it out to the middle of the yard and light a match.

    Help PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

Check the float, take it out put it in a cup of water or gas and see if it floats. It may have developed a leak, sometimes you can shake them and hear gas sloshing around. Also why is it dripping from the airbox? shouldnt it be dripping from the small hose on the bottom of the carb?

When I bought the carb, there was a hose running from the nozzle on the bottom of the cup up and around to the one nozzle on the top where the throttle cable plugs in. See the photo. Is that wrong? It ran fine for about two years or so with it like that, but if it's wrong, then what's right?

Also, I'll take it apart tomorrow, check the float, see how it goes, and post on here either way. Thanks for the info!

i'll try to get you a pic of my carb tomorrow but i don't think the hose is right since the hose on the bottom i think is an overfill drain.

Both of the holes need to be open for venting and over flow , that's why its flowing out the filter box and not out the bottom of the bowl were it should when theirs an issue .
You have a float valve problem , Dirt , bad valve , bad float , cracked carb EXC ......
