    siezed motor 250r

I was thinking about going to the badlands tomorrow took my wheeler out this afternoon and was pushing it really hard and seized it up tight. The filter was clean ,running it 32 to 1 927 maxima , jetted a little on the rich side ,running perfect ,no noises. The cylinder is stuck so bad I don't know how im going to get it apart to see how bad it is . any suggestions

Take the head off and bang the piston down with a block of wood and a mallet. Pull the flywheel cover off and see if there is gas in there (tell tale sign of a really bad crank seal.)

Good thing that you didnt try and keep starting it, or bump start it or anything. There was this guy on bansheehq that TRASHED his engine. i got some of the pics from it.
    His piston

His crankcase. he had a picture of the cylinder, but he deleted it. It was pretty much all melted

Perhaps it was a cold seize. Did you let it warm up? Cold seizure was more common on the first water cooled 2 strokes. Because the piston warms up and expands more quickly than the cylinder sleeve, if you run it without letting the entire engine warm up it can seize. The tell-tale sign is scoring on four opposing sides of the piston.

it was warmed up .I was going to take it apart but decided to just wait and leave it in until I get a new one. I don't want to have this thing in pieces all over my garage for a month. sad thing is I had a fresh ported cylinder ready to go on it but the bottom end has to be trashed. I was thinking about buying one of those 85 take out motors that come up on ebay all the time but I am kind of worried about a motor that's been sitting on a shelf for so long they usually sell for 1000$ not sure what im going to do yet.

No, now they run 2K plus. They are just fine I have run 2 without even a clutch or oil seal failure.

Last 85R motor I saw was 2500.00$ BIN.

You can rebuild one but it won't be new. Just as stated in the sellers ad.

If I saw it at 1K, I would have bought it. Just like the discontinued parts, everything is on the rise......

WOW, do you think someone may have dropped it in the sparkplug hole or put it in your intake manifold to ruin your day?

no ones ever been around it but me . the cylinder has never been taken off, the reeds have never been taken off by me anyway. the spark plug has been in it for 2 years the pipe has a good 6 hours of use on it . the only thing I have done to it in a long time is switch the gas tank from black to red
