    350X Front Brake Pads

Put on new front brake pads. Now I hear rubbing sounds. Lifted front end up and spun the wheel. Seems like the new pads are thicker than oem ? I used Sumo kevlar pads. Is this a grind it till it fits fix ? Just wanna make sure the rotors don't get effed up. The rotor looks pretty straight to me when I spin the wheel. Anybody else experience this when you put on new brake pads ?

I had a similar problem with the rear of my 350x. I thought it was a bent rotor but it turned out to be the caliper was only compressing out of one side all the way. Did your caliper work correctly before you changed them? Look at your old pads, check to see if they were wearing evenly.

The caliper body slides side to side on 2 pins. These need to be cleaned and lubed from time to time. If the caliper cant center itself, it will ware the pads unevenly. Also the wheel wont spin freely. Dont grind anything.

Could be the caliper pistons having a little binding when being fully compressed in as well. With the pistons fully compressed and brand new pads, there is very little remaining clearance.

So if any of the above issues aren't up to par, new pads will drag. Especially if the rotor is close to new spec for thickness...
