Does anyone know if it is common for the needle and needle jet in a carb to get worn so much that the engine will run rich??

I GUESS ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!! i have never seen it in all my years,,, are you only rich in the mid range? cause it would have no affect on top end or bottom end?,,,, is it all original? is it a mixed match set?
i guess if the needle was sloppy in the slide it could wear on the jet enough to change things,,,

Is the needle supposed to fit snug in the jet?

Yep....I'm pretty sure it should be snug. It is on 2 of my carbs.
