82 honda 185S stator

Hi all, I suspect i have a bad exiter coil on my stator assembly. So i ordered a new one. it was supposed to be a direct replacment for the old one. Here is the problem. the old coil has 1 wire going to it, and only one terminal. The new one has 2 terminals. 1 terminal in the middle of the coil, and 1 terminal on the body of of the coil. My stupid questions are ( #1- can i even use this coil?) (#2 which terminal do i connect the single wire to?) Any advice would be greatly appreciated Jeff

I've used those before with no issues , solder the wire to the middle connector .

If i remember right the terminal on the body as you described it, no the one in the middle, is at the same potential as the metal mounting holes, its the ground end of the coil. So as Shortline said, solder to the middle one.
