    Angry 350x Exhaust too loud

    Hey Everyone,

I have an 85 350x with a 410 kit and DG exhaust. I'm planning on taking it for a long weekend ride up in the northern interconnected trails in NH. I hear that these trails are now heavily patrolled by fish and game and that they are indeed doing db checks.

My bike is WAY too loud. Is there anything I can do to the exhaust to quiet it down? From what I can tell, the pipe seems to be almost new.

I would be more than happy to trade for a stock exhaust that's in good shape or even another aftermarket pipe, provided it's quieter than what I have.

I'm open to all ideas and suggestions that don't involve spending more than $100.00.

I also wouldn't mind meeting up with some other 3 wheelers for the ride.

Unfortunately your only chance this side of a custom made exhaust is to find yourself an OEM exhaust that is still in good shape.

There are 3 companies that I know of that still make exhaust for your X. They are DG, Cobra, and Supertrapp. All 3 are considerably louder than stock.

My brother (member Ride_Red_Man) has an OEM exhaust but at some point over the years someone took the baffle out of the muffler. It is still more quiet than the aftermarket systems, but it's louder than an un-molested stock unit.

Do you now the DB test criteria for your state? If so, a DB meter isn't all that expensive or difficult to find online. There is a chance your current system may be in compliance with DB limits for your area... It's worth a few bucks for a DB meter and a little online research to find out.

Whats the dB threshold for ATV exhaust there? I would get some hard numbers and test before tearing into it. Otherwise about your only option is to cut up and go custom.
