    I bought a new jeep-

1966 CJ-6 with a factory Perkins Diesel. Had been sitting in a field since 1977. I now have it running but not yet driving.. Very rare Jeep with the Perkins 192 Diesel.

Stopping for fuel after loading it up-

    Perkins 4-192-

    As she currently sits-

That would be in the era when Kaiser Fraser owned "Jeep" I think. That is really cool, what are the plans for it? Ditch the oil bath air filter ASAP.

The Perkins is swapped in. I looks nice in there. The 66 had 2 choices of power plants. The 134 f head or the dauntless v6. Nice score.

I beg to differ on the swap........ There were 3 engine options in 66. The other option was the Perkins 192 4 cylinder. The Prefix of the VIN/serial # denotes this as a CJ-6 open body diesel from the factory. It is number 449 built between 61 & 69 when the Perkins was offered. Estimated that probably about 600 or less were built in that time period, but Kaiser was terrible about records. There are records from 61-63 but anything past that is gone. According to Jim Allen's Illustrated Jeep buyers guide it's estimated that less that 3k CJ5's and CJ6's were built with the Perkins in that run between 61 and 69. The introduction of the Jeepster C-101 and the Dauntless V-6 seriously cut into sales of the CJ-6 and the Perkins was never popular from the start so adding a more powerful V6 to the line up reduced sales of the diesel even further. I did my homework. The second owner ( who I bought it from ) said this one came out of Canada originally but spent almost its entire life in Idaho and Washington.

Ive been wanting to do the EJS for years. I havent missed a TDS in the last 8 yrs....I go to the colorado river north of Yuma Az to wheel and at the Superstition Mtns in Imperial Valley. Im also lucky enough to have epic boulders 3 miles from my house. Ive wheeled there sense Iv been 17yrs old. My 1st car was a 53 M38A1. That was 32yrs ago. I had quite a bit of rock and dirt under my tires. Love the jeep thing.

Wow! I'm not a Jeep Junkie - I can tell a CJ5 from a CJ7 from a Scrambler and that's about it so it's no surprise I had no ideas they had diesels in 66.

    That thing is BITCHIN'!

The cj6 is rare by itself let alone with the diesel. Good score !.

My first was and still is my 52 CJ-3A although it's been neglected the last few years due to life complications.

And work lets me drive this one every now and then.

Chopped off the severely bent and broken front part of the frame this weekend and fabbed up new frame rails and a bumper with winch mount. My cousin is pretty good and bending and melting metal.
